Overview
This guide explains the new Enforce activity selection and Enforce project selection controls in Time Tracking. When enabled, users must choose an activity and/or project before they can submit a timesheet.


How Enforce Activity/Project Selection Works


These settings are inheritable at Global, Template, and User levels (Template overrides Global; User overrides Template). When enabled:
• Users cannot submit a timesheet without the required field(s) completed.
• Enforcement applies to the mobile app as well as the web.
• Enforcement does not apply when using Total hours only mode.


How to Set Up Enforce Activity/Project Selection


Global (applies to all users unless overridden)

  1. Go to Admin tools > Admin panel > Global > Time Tracking.

  2. In Submission Rules, toggle Enforce activity selection and/or Enforce project selection to On.

  3. Click Save at the top of the page.


Template (applies to users assigned to the template)

  1. Go to Admin tools > Admin panel > Template > User Templates.

  2. Click Edit on the required template (you’ll land on Template Settings by default).

  3. Open the Time Tracking section and toggle Enforce activity selection and/or Enforce project selection to On.

  4. Click Save Template at the top of the page.


User (override for an individual)

  1. Go to Admin tools > Users.

  2. Search for the user and click Edit.

  3. Select the User Settings tab, open Time Tracking, then toggle Enforce activity selection and/or Enforce project selection to On/Off as needed.

  4. Click Save User at the top of the page.


Additional Information

  • Enforce activity selection / Enforce project selection: Requires users to choose an Activity and/or Project on each line before Submit Week is allowed.

  • Inheritance: Global → Template → User; lower levels override higher.

  • Mobile support: Enforcement applies in the mobile app.

  • Limitation: Not enforced in Total hours only mode.

  • Best practice: Enable enforcement where activities/projects are used for billing, cost codes, or utilisation reporting; leave off for teams that only capture total hours.

  • Requires 'System Admin' role.

  • Tip: Use the search function within the platform to quickly find features or settings.
