Enabling an entitlement on a template level

Who this guide is for: System administrators – Requires 'System Admin' role and User Templates permission

Overview:
Enable an entitlement element (pot) at the Template level when it is disabled globally, so users on that template can book against it.

How Template Entitlements Work:
Entitlements (e.g. Holiday, TOIL) can be enabled or disabled at Global, Template, and User levels. A Template setting overrides Global for all users assigned to that template.

How to Set Up Template Entitlement (Enable):

  1. Go to Admin tools > Admin panel > Template > User Templates.

  2. Find the template and click Edit (you’ll land on Template Settings by default).

  3. Select the Entitlements tab.

  4. Click Advanced.

  5. Locate the entitlement element you need and click Enable.

  6. Click Save Template at the top of the page.

Additional Information:

  • Entitlement element/pot: A leave balance category (e.g. Holiday, TOIL) that users book against.

  • Requires 'System Admin' role and User Templates permission.

  • Warning: Template overrides Global—enabling here affects all users on the template.

  • Best practice: After enabling, review pot settings (e.g. time unit, accruals/policies) and test with a user in the template.

  • Tip: Use the search function within the platform to quickly find features or settings.
