Absence Types - Changing the global cancellation settings for an absence type

This guide is for system administrators with appropriate permissions.
Overview:
Control how absence bookings can be cancelled for different absence types, and whether they can be cancelled by a user or their authoriser
How Cancellation Settings Work:

  • Determines whether users can cancel their own absences or whether authoriser can do it on their behalf
  • Controls if cancellation requires approval
  • Can be configured differently per absence type (e.g., stricter rules for holidays than sick leave or visa versa)

How to Set Up:

  1. Navigate to Admin Tools > Admin Panel
  2. Select Global > Absence Types
  3. Locate the absence type (use search if needed)
  4. Click Edit for the relevant absence type
  5. Go to Cancellation Settings and configure:
    • Allow cancellation by users
    • Use authorisation for cancellation (requires approval)
    • Allow cancellation by authorisers (managers/HR can cancel)
  6. Click Save (top right)
