Absence Setup - Template level absence type permissions

Who this is for: System administrators. Requires 'User Templates' permission.

Overview:
This guide explains how to configure absence type permissions for user templates, controlling visibility of absence records for groups of users.

How Absence Type Permissions Work:
Template-level permissions determine what absence records users in a template can view (their own, their reportees', or others'). These settings override Global but are overridden by User-level permissions.

How to Set Up Absence Type Permissions at Template Level:

  1. Go to Admin Tools > Admin Panel.
  2. Select Templates in the left panel.
  3. Find the template (use search if needed) and click Edit.
  4. Navigate to the Absence Types tab.
  5. Locate the absence type (use search filter if required) and click Edit.
  6. Under Permissions, adjust settings for:
    • My items: User’s own absences.
    • Reportees: Absences of their direct reports.
    • Others: Absences of other users.
  7. Click Save Template at the top right.

Additional Information:

  • Key terms:
    • My items: User’s own absence records.
    • Reportees: Absences of employees the user approves.
    • Others: Absences of unrelated users.
  • Prerequisites: 'User Templates' permission required.
  • Tip: Hover over the (i) icon for permission explanations.
  • Reminder: Template settings override Global but are overridden by User-level settings.
  • Search tip: Use the platform’s search function to quickly locate templates or absence types.
