Who this guide is for

System Administrators with Users permission.

Overview

This guide explains how to delete a user account while preserving recovery options through the recycling bin.

How User Deletion Works

  • Purpose: Remove inactive accounts while maintaining data recovery options.
  • Process:
    • Deleted accounts move to the Recycling Bin (not permanently erased).
    • Accounts can be restored or permanently deleted from the bin.
    • Retention periods may apply (system-dependent).

How to Delete a User Account

  1. Navigate to Admin > Users > Users.
  2. Use search filters to locate the user, then click the blue "Edit" button.
  3. Click the red "Delete" button.
  4. Confirm by clicking "OK" in the pop-up window.

Additional Information

  • Prerequisite: Users permission.
  • Key terms:
    • Recycling Bin: Temporary storage for deleted accounts (accessible via Admin Tools).
    • Permanent Deletion: Irreversible removal after bin deletion.
  • Critical reminders:
    • Recovery Option: Deleted accounts go to Recycling Bin for restoration.
    • ⚠️ Retention Period: Some systems auto-purge bins after set duration (check your policy).
    • ☠️ Final Warning: Permanent deletion from bin is irreversible.
  • Best practices:
    • Use Offboarding for temporary departures to retain full history.
    • Regularly review Recycling Bin before permanent deletion.
