Enabling an absence type on a template level

For: System Administrators who wish to update the template level absence type.

Overview: This guide explains how to enable an absence type at the template level when it is disabled globally, allowing tailored permissions for specific user groups.

How Template-Level Overrides Work: When an absence type is disabled globally, template-level settings can override this to enable it for selected user groups (e.g., enabling "Remote Work" for a "Field Staff" template).

How to Enable an Absence Type at Template Level:

  1. Access Templates: Go to Admin Tools > Admin Panel > Template > User Templates.
  2. Find Template: Search for or browse to the target template; click Edit.
  3. Open Absence Types: Navigate to the Absence Types tab.
  4. Locate Absence Type: Search for or browse to the absence type; click Edit.
  5. Adjust Permissions:
    • Under Permissions, set these to "Yes":
      • Can book own absences
      • Can book reportees absences
      • Can book others absences
  6. Save Template: Click Save Template (Top right side of the page)

  • Best Practices:
    • Test changes in a sandbox template first.
    • Use consistent permission rules across related templates.
  • Important Reminders:
    • Template-level "Yes" overrides global "No" but is overridden by user-level settings.
